Khartoum is suffering from an immigration influx due to the instability at the periphery of Sudan. This overflowing population has to be settled in a sustainable metropolitan structure and under quality housing conditions. These requirements, along with the geographic (Nile riverbanks) and existing infrastructure assets (railroad line), suggest a linear structure of centralities (a golden necklace) that would provide accessibility, abundant land and environmental quality. Decisive government action is required to implement an efficient metropolitan structure.
