Lekhnath is on the outskirts of the Nepalese city of Pokhara, west of Kathmandu. The area is rural but is urbanizing quickly due to the overspill of Pokhara and its location on the road to Kathmandu. There is potential for productive activities related to the strategic location but there is definitively need for an urban centrality to gather services for both the business activities and the scattered low-density population. The centrality can be located in the proximity of the main thoroughfare, the origin of the urban-export economic activities, but with local population accessibility in mind. The new City Hall seems to have been properly located with both objectives in mind. It can be at the core of the centrality development. |
